The Client

A global technology company operating in the fields of automation, robotics, and industrial solutions, developing digital platforms that support energy efficiency and operational performance. The organization was implementing a program to build a modern data platform aimed at integrating and analyzing information from multiple product and operational systems.

The challenge

The platform had been designed and implemented by an external project team. The key challenge was ensuring a complete, structured, and transparent transfer of the solution to the internal engineering team.

Identified risks included

  • lack of standardization in naming conventions, catalog structures, and data schemas,
  • incomplete documentation of pipelines and infrastructure configuration,
  • dependency on the knowledge of the implementation team,
  • potential difficulties in further development and maintenance of the platform after the project’s completion.

The organization needed an experienced engineer who could take responsibility for organizing the environment and ensuring a technically sound handover while collaborating with the existing team.

The solution

Within a staff augmentation model, we provided a Senior Data Platform Engineer with experience in environments based on Terraform, dbt, and modern lakehouse platforms.

The scope of responsibilities included:

  • reviewing and organizing Terraform scripts and infrastructure configuration,
  • verifying and standardizing Unity Catalog configuration,
  • organizing the Data Lake structure (folders, data layers, schemas),
  • reviewing and optimizing dbt projects and CI/CD pipelines,
  • verifying secrets management and key vault configuration,
  • documenting monitoring, alerting, and operational logic,
  • conducting a technical kick-off to align on key architectural decisions (naming conventions, catalog structure, access model).

After the implementation phase, the expert participated in an overlap period, working directly with the team taking over the platform.

The conclusions

  • A complete and transparent platform handover within the client’s repository.
  • Standardized data structure and access mechanisms.
  • Full documentation of infrastructure, pipelines, and security configuration.
  • Minimized operational risk during the transition to the internal team.

The client obtained a stable and well-structured data platform ready for further development without dependency on the original implementation team.
