The Client
Aviation (airline, Middle East region)
The challenge
One of the world’s leading airlines was executing a program to scale its cloud-based data platform supporting critical operational and analytical processes. The rapid growth of data volumes and increasing needs of analytics and operational teams required:
- expansion of the Big Data architecture based on Azure and Databricks,
- standardization of data processing and system integration patterns,
- increasing the speed of delivering changes without compromising quality, performance, or cost control,
- rapid scaling of the data engineering team within a European delivery model while maintaining high security standards.
The client needed a partner capable of building and maintaining a team of senior engineers working according to their engineering standards.
The solution
Our consultants joined the client’s team as Senior Azure Data Engineers within an Extended Teams model. We supported the project in the following areas:
- designing and building a scalable data processing architecture in the Microsoft Azure cloud environment,
- developing data pipelines and workflows based on Databricks, Spark, and Azure Data Factory,
- creating system-to-system integration patterns and large-scale data processing solutions,
- automating CI/CD processes and implementing data engineering best practices,
- collaborating with analysts and data scientists to ensure the quality of downstream models,
- defining data retention policies and monitoring platform performance.
All consultants underwent an extended security check process.
The conclusions
- A scalable and stable data platform supporting critical airline operations.
- Increased team throughput thanks to standardization and reusable components.
- Faster delivery of changes while maintaining high quality and security standards.
- The ability to further scale the engineering team in Europe in a controlled manner.
